Past Events

2010 was another busy year with "Friends" attending over 18 events during the year. We wrapped up the year with a busy couple of months attending a Pet Parade in Sunnyvale, Special Adoption event at SVACA (where we did Pet Photos with Santa) and more pet photos at Pet Food Express in Campbell the first weekend in December. As we close out 2010 we would like to thank all who have donated their time, energy and money to help us throughout the year!

2009 was "Friends" first full year as a nonprofit. We held fundraisers and participated in many community outreach events. A few of those are listed below. We also had a table/booth at other community related events:

Wildlife Conservation Network Expo. Adoptapalooza, Fall Flurry (special thanks to Stella for walking and raising $1000 for friends in sponsorships!), Hawaiian theme adoption event at SVACA, Barktoberfest & K9 Training Lab Summer Pawty. It's been a busy first year and we will continue to raise funds and awareness in 2010 for SVACA!

We held 4 DINING OUT FUNDRAISERS in 2009 at Fresh Choice, Quiznos, Armadillo Willy's and Gelato Classico. Thank you so much to those restaurants for offering fundraising programs.

Pet Photos with Santa - 12/10

Do they get any cuter than this?? The doggie isn't bad either! Thanks to all that helped at this years Pet Photos with Santa and a special thanks to Pet Food Express for donating the space, camera, frames, printer and back drop to make this fundraiser possible. You guys ROCK!

ADOPTATHON 5/2010

Another sucessful raffle and silent auction at the shelter. 12 companion animals went home that day and more people came back in the following week. A special thank you to Debbie and her daughter Lauren for helping us at the event. Lauren helped us up-sell the raffle tickets by being so cute!!

WHISKER WONDERLAND (11/7/09)

SVACA had reduced fees on all cat adoptions and "Friends" with a little help from Santa - was talking pet photos.

CANINE COMPANIONS FOR INDEPENDANCE & THE SF 49'ERS (9/29/09)

FLYBALL (5/28/2009)

We had a table at a Flyball event in San Jose. Holly Cow those dogs are flying!!! This is a fast paced action packed fun thing for dogs and their humans. The really great part was we discovered about a 1/3 of the dogs are rescue, from shelters or other rescue organizations. These dogs were rejected by their previous owners for being too hyper, but luckily adopted by people who found this great way to keep those fuzzy friends happy and busy!!!

We gave all the rescue dogs a special ribbon and took a group picture. It was amazing. A special thanks to Tonya Jensen for all her effort on the ribbons and photos. Also a special shout to Kenlyn and Bronwyn for collecting donations from the teams!

SILENT AUCTION (5/2/09)

Silent Auction - We had a blast at the Adoptathon/Silent Auction. There were a number of homeless animal friends that found a new forever home and we raised $2,000 in our auction!!

* THE SPAGHETTI/BINGO FUNDRAISER (1/30/09) was a great success! This is an annual event that is hosted by the Santa Clara Youth Commission to help raise funds for SVACA. "Friends" helps to sell tickets and serve up that wonderful spaghetti to the 200+ participants. Thank you to all that participated.

PET PHOTOS WITH SANTA (12/5&6/08)

Thank you to Pet Food Express for letting us set up for the weekend and have so much fun taking picture of animal companions and their people. Special thanks to our 3 Santas and volunteers.
